THE LAST SECRET OF FATIMA
Don't miss this fascinating book. Don't
be led astray by foolish commentaries that provoke controversy.
Read and be convinced once and for all that the consecration
asked for by Our Lady has been fulfilled! John Paul II made it
and Sr. Lucia confirmed it!
Dear Parishioners:
I just finished reading The Last Secret of Fatima, by His Eminence Tarcisio Cardinal Bertone, the Vatican Secretary of State, the English translation of which was just released by Doubleday. In his capacity as a papal legate, Cardinal Bertone enjoyed more regular contact than any other person with Sr. Lucia dos Santos, the last surviving visionary of Fatima who passed away on February 13, 2005. John Paul II had decided to release the so-called Secret of Fatima and he wanted a definitive interpretation of this from Sr. Lucia, so he sent the Cardinal to the Carmelite convent in Coimbra for this purpose. I was one of a number of priests who had the privilege of concelebrating Mass with John Paul II in Fatima on May 13, 2000 during the beatification of her two cousins. This was the text of the secret that was released at the Mass:
At the left of Our Lady and a little above, we saw an Angel with a flaming sword in his left hand; flashing, it gave out flames that looked as though they would set the world on fire; but they died out in contact with the splendor that Our Lady radiated toward him from her right hand. Pointing to the earth with his right hand, the Angel cried out in a loud voice: “Penance, Penance, Penance!” And we saw in an immense light that is God something similar to how people appear in a mirror when they pass in front of it, a Bishop dressed in white; we had the impression that it was the Holy Father. Other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious going up a steep mountain, at the top of which there was a big Cross of rough-hewn trunks as of a cork tree with the bark. Before reaching there the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halted step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on his way. Having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at the foot of the big Cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him, and in the same way there died one after another the other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious, and various lay people of different ranks and positions. Beneath the two arms of the cross there were two angels each with a crystal aspersorium in his hand, in which they gathered up the blood of the martyrs and with it sprinkled the souls that were making their way to God.
Cardinal Bertone was completely impressed with the holiness and truthfulness of Sr. Lucia. He said: “A woman like that didn’t need to be put under oath. I had absolutely no doubts about her sincerity.” Showing the text of the secret to her, he asked: “Is this the only text you wrote?” She replied: “Yes, this is the Third Secret. I never wrote any other.” Having learned of the assassination attempt of John Paul II on May 13, 1981, she immediately made the connection with the Third Secret. Even though the pope survived, he was literally at the brink of death until supernatural events convened that are mentioned in this book that kept him alive. Nevertheless there are legions of people itching for apocalypse now and coming forth with all sorts of absurd
theories about how the Vatican has not released the entire secret. When asked about this, Sr. Lucia said: “Everything” – and when she said this she paused to give the word its full weight – has been published; there are no more secrets.” “Some people are never satisfied. Let’s not pay them any mind.” As to the petition she received regarding the Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart, she replied: “The Carmelite community simply threw it away. I’ve already said that the Consecration Our Lady wished for was performed in 1984, and that it was accepted by Heaven.” She added: “The Rosary and the Immaculate Heart of Mary is the means of salvation God has bestowed to help the Church and the world through these difficult times.”
Hard-core Fatimists like Fr. Gruner and his followers still fabricate theories of conspiracy, predicting that Rome will lose the faith and become the seat of the Antichrist. They claim, the Cardinal said, “we are
liars” – “that many others employ the same tactics, is actually the sort of device the Masons use to discredit the Church. I’m amazed that journalists and writers who claim to be Catholic allow themselves to be taken in.” Don’t you be!
In Christ,
Fr. Ziegler
Book Description (Extracted from www.amazon.com)
With an introduction by Pope Benedict XVI and including information previously suppressed, the Vatican’s Secretary of State, Cardinal Bertone, definitively reveals and explains one of the most controversial events in twentieth-century Catholicism—the 1917 apparition of the Virgin Mary at Fatima.
During World War I, three Portuguese children
received a vision in which Mary, the Mother of Jesus, foretold
great global turmoil. The first part of their vision—warnings about World War II, communism, and the spread of atheism—were widely publicized, but Vatican officials were hesitant to reveal the vision’s concluding images, thus creating the "secret" of
Fatima. Speculation about this secret gripped many Catholics,
and the aura of intrigue surrounding Fatima grew when the Church
hierarchy barred the last surviving visionary from speaking
publicly.
In THE LAST SECRET OF FATIMA, Cardinal Bertone, the Vatican
equivalent of prime minister and a top advisor to Pope Benedict, breaks the Vatican’s
official silence on the last secret. Rather than Armageddon, he claims, the final
prophecy envisaged the 1981 assassination attempt on Pope John Paul II. Bertone
argues the apparition at Fatima was a call to renewal for the Church, and he
was assigned the task of promulgating this message by the Pope.
